One of the most diverse kingdoms of life, fungi play an essential role in ecosystems as decomposers, recyclers, soil formers, and symbionts. These functions also make fungi have great applied value in biotechnology, food production and the circular economy.

This course seeks to introduce basic aspects of mycology, delving into the contribution of fungi to key ecosystem processes and connecting them with their diverse and growing uses in industrial and commercial sectors.
